Viso: Cadernos de estética aplicada follows the “Principles of Transparency and Best Practices in Scholarly Publishing” and demands that its authors observe high ethical standards as established by the COPE (“Committee on Publication Ethics”). Falsification or fabrication of data, plagiarism, including republication of the authors’ own work without proper citation, and misappropriation of the work of others will not be tolerated. Cases of editorial misconduct are treated very seriously in accordance with COPE guidelines.

Plagiarism

Texts submitted for publication are regularly screened for plagiarism using detection software as part of our quality control. For further details, please check our Plagiarism Policy.

Authorship

All authors listed on the manuscript should have contributed significantly to the submitted work. The manuscript should also list all individuals which qualify as authors by this criteria. Viso: Cadernos de estética aplicada does not accept ghost writing or gift authorship. All authors should have read and approved the version sent for publication. Change in authorship after the initial manuscript submission are only allowed with the written consent of all authors.

Conflicts of Interest

At the point of submission, authors must reveal any financial connections or other situations that might raise the question of bias in the work or its conclusions. This includes sources of funding for the research that is reported in the article, for the author or his associated department or institution, as well as personal relationships, or academic competition. Cases of undisclosed conflicts of interest will be dealt with in accordance with COPE guidelines.

Peer Review

Articles published in the main section are double blind peer reviewed, as detailed in the Quality Control item. Reviewers are encouraged to follow COPE’s “Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers”.

What should you do if you suspect misconduct

When suspecting editorial misconduct, authors and readers in general should contact the editors directly using the editors emails listed on the Editorial Board page. Allegations of editorial misconduct are investigated with the participation of all parties involved.

How do we deal with suspicion of editorial misconduct

The editors investigate all claims of editorial misconduct following COPE flowcharts to deal with each specific situation. Should the suspicions prove true, measures are taken to fix the issue, which may vary from a simple correction or attribution of credit to a full retraction of the article. Measures taken at each situation are defined by COPE’s “Retraction Guidelines”.
