Registered users are granted access to a private area where they can change their personal data and follow up on their submissions. Reviews on rejected and conditionally accepted manuscripts are also available at this area.

Viso: Cadernos de estética aplicada only accepts submissions from postgraduate PhD students and researchers with a PhD degree (minimum).

This journal operates with open call for papers. You may submit your manuscript at any time using the “submissions” area of this website. Before sending your work, please read carefully our Editorial Policies and make sure your text is correctly formatted according to our Style Guidelines below.

Style Guidelines

  • Please send only Microsoft Word or Open Document text files (doc, docx, odt ). Submissions of other file types (pdf, images, sounds, etc.) will be cancelled automatically.
  • Your text should have between 10 and 20 pages, size A4, margins 2,5cm on all sides. If you wish to publish a larger text please contact the editors directly.
  • Paragraphs should be justified with a spacing of 1,5. Use the “Times New Roman” font, size 12pt for regular text; size 11pt and a 4,0cm left indentation for long quotations; size 10pt for footnotes.
  • Use footnotes only. No endnotes, please.
  • Letters from non-roman alphabets should not be included. Quotations from languages which use such alphabets must appear in a romanized version in the document.

Quotations

Quotation references should be included in footnotes in short form: AUTHOR FAMILY NAME, year, page.

  • Do not use short form references directly in the text (Chicago format).
  • Do not include full references in footnotes.
  • Do not use expressions to omit repetitions, such as “Idem”, “Ibidem”, “Op.cit.”.
  • Use a single space after commas and after the expression “p.”.

WRONG
For Hegel,“the term aesthetics is certainly not appropriate to designate such object" (HEGEL, 2001, p. 27).

CORRECT
For Hegel, “the term aesthetics is certainly not appropriate to designate such object”.1

Position of footnote number

Footnote numbers must be place before final points but before any other punctuation signs.

    • WRONG
      Hence there are "no other spiritual substances"1.
      Hence there are "no other spiritual substances."1
      Hence there are "no other spiritual substances",1 suggests the author.
      Hence there are "no other spiritual substances,"1 suggests the author.
    • CORRECT
      Hence there are "no other spiritual substances".1
      Hence there are "no other spiritual substances"1, suggests the author.

References

Full references of all the works quoted in the paper, as well as of any other work the author may wish to include, should be listed in a "References" section at the end of the file.

      • Do not abbreviate the author's first name.
      • Always include the pagination of papers and chapters.
      • If you wish to omit the author in consecutive entries, please use five underline characters (“_____.”).
      • When quoting papers please include, as often as possible, the volume (“v. ”), the issue number (“n. ”) and the period (between parentheses).
      • Do not abbreviate additional information in reference entries
        (WRONG: Trans. Jaimir Conte; CORRECT: Translated by Jaimir Conte).

    • Portuguese, French, Spanish, Italian and other roman languages: first letter only

    • Englis: First letter, articles and prepositions
      (WRONG: An Essay Towards a new Theory of vision; CORRECT: An Essay towards a New Theory of Vision).
    • German: First letter, nouns and proper names
      (WRONG: Sein und zeit; CORRECT: Sein und Zeit).
