Pretende-se fazer uma análise do texto “O ensaio como forma”, de Theodor Adorno, enfatizando a relação entre particular e universal e sua mediação recíproca na densidade dialética do corpo da linguagem. Interpretamos tal mediação como índice do modo como a dialética negativa adorniana apoia-se no fragmento, no equívoco e no arbitrário para ultrapassar os dois polos de falsidade usualmente vistos no plano conceitual-filosófico, quais sejam: o particular em-si e por-si e a abstração generalizadora do pensamento classificatório. Ao final, apresentamos uma breve crítica à ideia de utopia do novo formulada a partir de Kant por Adorno.

We intend to analyze the text “The essay as form”, by Theodor Adorno, emphasizing the relationship between the particular and the universal and their reciprocal mediation in the dialectical density of the body of language. We interpret such mediation as an index of the way Adorno’s negative dialectic relies on the fragment, on the equivocation and on the arbitrary to overcome the two poles of falsity usually seen in the conceptual-philosophical plane, namely: the particular in-itself and for-itself, and the generalizing abstraction of classificatory thinking. At the end, we present a brief critique of the idea of utopia of the New formulated from Kant by Adorno.
