O artigo se propõe a analisar o romance o remorso de baltazar serapião, de valter hugo mãe, a partir de conceitos de teoria literária do trágico, defendendo a tese de que o texto constitui uma articulação estética de componentes de uma realidade subjetiva e cultural anteriores à tragédia grega, situação legível a partir do conceito de totemismo. A argumentação articula os conceitos de poder, cinismo, corporeidade e feminino.

The article aims to analyze the novel o remorso de baltazar serapião, by valter hugo mãe, with concepts of literary theory of the tragic, defending the thesis that the text is an aesthetic articulation of components of a subjective and cultural reality prior to Greek tragedy, a situation readable from the concept of totemism.
