Texto que visa reconstituir, ainda que de modo parcial, o estatuto das artes e dos artistas no universo figurativo da colônia até as portas do Império. Tal recosntituição nos faz observar os descaminhos a que estamos submetidos ao replicar e adaptar os grandes sistemas histórico-estéticos a que sempre nos submetemos ao tentar entender um esforço figurativo para o qual nos referências são, no mais das vezes, insuficientes. O texto busca elencar e tentar reconstituir algumas alternativas.

This text aims to reconstitute, albeit partially, the status of the arts and artists in the figurative universe from the colony to the gates of the Empire. This reconstitution helps us to observe the pitfalls we are subjected to when we replicate and adapt the great historical-aesthetic systems to which we are always subjected when trying to understand a figurative endeavour for which our references are insufficient. The text seeks to list and try to reconstitute some alternatives to that usual path.
